MARK BARTLEY, BRISTOL Circa 1840
A good quality Bristol mahogany longcase clock. Brass capped fluted hood and trunk columns. Choice flame mahogany veneers and inlays to the case. A wavy edged hood door and pediment as often seen on Bristol clocks. An attractive arched painted dial with a river scene to the arch. A seconds and date dial. An 8-day movement striking the hours on a bell.
Mark Bartley of Bristol worked in Nicholas Street and is recorded in A J Moores' 'Clockmakers of Bristol' book as working 1815-1855. A very similair clock is illustrated.
